HOW TO BE A MEMBER

Male Membership Form
Female Membership Form

GUIDE FOR PROPOSERS, SECONDERS AND SPONSORS
OF CANDIDATES FOR ELECTION
Membership of the Bulawayo Club is by invitation. Proposers, seconders and sponsors therefore have a
responsibility to ensure that candidates are suitable. Regrettably, in many cases, members nominating
candidates for membership are not fulfilling their responsibilities, which include making the candidate
aware of the following and ensuring his compliance.
TOWN & COUNTRY MEMBERSHIP
1) Once the application form has been completed, the candidate should be introduced to as many committee
members as possible. This is best achieved on a Tuesday evening in the Members’ Bar. The form may then
be submitted to the Club Manager. The candidate should be walked through the Club to be familiarised
with it’s layout. He should be appraised on the dress code, conduct, invitation of guests, prompt payment
of accounts, reciprosity with other clubs, raffles and draws etc.
2) Candidates are required to serve a two month probationary period before election. During this time, Town
candidates are required to attend the Club eight times and Country candidates at least once.
The candidate is required to sign the attendance book in the Members’ Bar or the Private Dining Room.
Should a Town candidate not fulfill the mandatory eight visits, the probationary period may, at the
discretion of the Committee, be extended by one month so that he may complete his obligation.
Should he still fall short of the number of visits, the application for membership will be withdrawn
and no further application made be made for twelve months.
3) Above all, proposers, seconders and sponsors should ensure that they have sufficient knowledge of the
candidate to be able to vouch for his character, integrity and behaviour as befitting a member of this
     prestigious Club.
